Bands & Djs
Everything you need to knowBefore You Book
We know how important the evening entertainment and music is to our couples; that's why we allow them to source their own band and DJ if they wish.
At Hanbury Barns we love to welcome new acts and we'll do everything we can to make you feel right at home.
Before you accept a booking to play at Hanbury Barns please ensure that you are able to comply with our requirements that are set out below:
PLI & PAT Test
We will need to see a copy of your Public Liability Insurance (PLI) and Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) Certificate for your equipment before the big day, in order for you to play.
You can provide these directly to us via email, or kindly pass them onto the happy couple who can then send them our way.
Please be aware that we must have copies of your PLI and PAT. Failing this, you will not be permitted to perform at our venue.
Sound Limiter
Hanbury Barns has a Sound Limiter set to 100 decibels.
This is a condition of our license, so it is not possible to override or disable this. We appreciate that this may not always be convenient, but we have to ensure that we comply with the conditions of our license at all times.
We kindly ask that you respect and comply with any request to reduce the volume made by any member of The Hanbury Barns team.
All external doors from the barns must remain locked while evening music is being played.
We want everyone to thoroughly enjoy your fabulous performance, so please do get in touch should you require any further information.
Setting Up Safely
You’ll be able to unload your gear straight onto the dancefloor.
- The FIRE EXIT must be kept clear at all times. No cables may cross the Fire Exit which must remain closed.
- We do not provide stage lighting and we don’t allow dry ice as it triggers our smoke particle detectors.
- The top of your speakers must not exceed 1.5 metres from the ground.
- Drum Kits must be positioned on a protective mat to avoid damage to our flooring.
- It is not possible for us to keep any your equipment overnight.
Please support us so we can provide the perfect evening and inform us should you spot any spillages on the dance floor.
Any evening food and drink requests must be pre-arranged through the happy couple.
Sound Check
A member of the Hanbury Barns Events Team will be onsite to greet you on your arrival to Hanbury Barns.
If we’ve not had the opportunity to discuss timings with you before the couple’s special day we’ll let you know when the best time for the sound check will be, when you arrive.
It is best if the sound check has been completed prior to the guest’s seating for the Wedding Breakfast, or after the speeches to minimise disruption as much as possible.
Music Stops at Midnight
Our license requires us to stop all music at 12am.
We recommend that you gradually wind things down a little earlier to ensure you can play ‘one more’, as often requested when you have a full dance floor.
All the power sockets located in the party barn are connected to an automatic timer which cuts the power at 12.05am to give you time to shut down any sensitive equipment. Our lovely Event Managers are unable to override this setting.
Please work with us on this; the music must stop at Midnight.

All Good Things Must Come To An End
We kindly request that all our bands, DJs and evening entertainers are packed up and ready to leave by 00:30 at the latest.
This allows for 30 minutes to pack up all equipment after the music stops.
Should you have any questions or concerns, please get in touch with the Events Team prior to accepting a booking to perform at Hanbury Barns.
